Tribute to unhappy hipsters III

And number 3 in the series, symbolising all the guys staring at their phone for some reason or other. This one wants to stand out with his neongrassgreen shirt. And a phone, if it had an IQ… Onwards. Hipwards.

Tribute to unhappy hipsters II

I may have been too specific in my discrimination last post. For all I know, the young lady that set all of this off might have been a tourist, student or non-hipster local who happened to be bored.  So, even though I may change the title of this at some point, here's another installment in the series: This guy is no-one specific, just a reflection of people walking down the street, headphones drowning out the surrounding background and reinforcing a sense of personal reality. Something, I might add, I am  frequently guilty of. So, on a meta level, analysing this, you might surmise I'm bored and want to be a hipster. ;) PS: the rooster is an actual T-shirt Motif by R.Stevens of Dieselsweeties.

A tribute to unhappy Hipsters I

Now, why is it that the Berlin Hipster feels the need to look unabashedly bored in all situations? Yesterday, while on a walk, someone quite similar to the young lady below walked past me. I'll set the scene for you. Bored and with a hauteur I found incomprehensible. So, for exercise, as much as for the pleasure of drawing and colouring, I decided to start a series of hipsterlustrations. This is number one.  By, the way, this is not to be confused with the photography site unhappyhipsters
For clues and possible solutions to the brainteaser posed in the last post, look no further than this representation of Celestine (she needs a new name, I'm using up the e's on my keyboard). And more riddles to be posed and solved. Eventually.

Pedestrian Train Sketch

Usually, this kind of sketch would happen on a train. Today, it happened during a walk. While I was sitting.

Ver1 - Postpunkredereconstructionism

This is an unpremeditated attempt, so version one and onwards.

Project Männchenmarch… Sketches

Last year, I posted a few teasers about an animation project I tentatively called Männchenmarch. What remains of that project are zillions of sketches, some of which I am going to be publishing over the next week or so. Without going into the details of it, the idea was to create a stop-motionish world surrounded by 3D backgrounds. Thus the world would be animated, the characters choppy (which is fun) Let's see if I can come up with something else this can be turned into. Today, you get a few Jazz-men and ladies. The second image is the transparency layers for the final film.

Greeks led into battle by half-naked woman!

'twas the olden days of yore, the days of heroes and gods, some demi-gods and a quite a few angry squabbles between all of the above-mentioned. Witness here the heroine of the battle of Thermonucliæ, in which brave Akantha lead ten thousand scared greeks into battle. Truth be told, they were all hoping for a glimpse of her legendary posterior 'neath her fabled, skin-tight armor.

Peoples at an Exhibition

After a very high dose of excellent contemporary art on Sunday, I found myself wanting to record my impressions of the varied people I ran across there. I also find myself wondering why no-one seems to have much fun when contemplating thought-provoking art…

Here there be spies… Part III

This is one of those sketches I had a lot of fun making, but in the final analysis feels somewhat disappointing… The spies ended up in a bar after training heavily for the day. They got heavily drunk.  A game of poker with some young KGB agents ensued. Upon remembering that the KGB had been disbanded ten years ago, an existential crisis of epic proportions followed, bringing with it all the violence and mayhem that only a depressed binge on expensive liquor can generate. They woke up the next morning, having forgotten everything but how to dress smartly and retired to a remote, but sunny headquarters somewhere far from where they had been last night. Belle watched on from outside, eating celery. Have the poster for that binge.
